Parking decides more than any other answer. Every home grant turns on whether the space is private and off-street.

What the charger itself costs across 12 sellers
12 of the 30 sellers we read publish a price for a home charger. Their figures run from £449 to £1,499, the middle half sit between £849 and £1,162, and the median is £995. The full list, with every seller's own sentence and the date it was read, is in the home charger price index.
Ask what standard installation covers
A fitted price is a price for a standard job, and each seller defines standard itself. Before you compare quotes, ask each installer how long a cable run the price includes, whether your fuse board or main fuse needs work first, and what they charge if the job turns out not to be standard. Those answers are what make two quotes comparable.
Grants that reduce the cost
If you rent or own a flat, the EV chargepoint grant for renters and flat owners pays up to £500 towards a chargepoint. Landlords have their own chargepoint grant for landlords, also up to £500. Every scheme we read is in the UK chargepoint grant table.
